Homer D. Thompson


Homer D. Thompson, 76, of Ardara, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017.  He was born December 2, 1940 in Gallipolis, Ohio, a son of the late Stanley and Mildred Starkey Thompson.  Prior to his retirement, Homer was employed as a truck driver and flagman for Penn Dot and was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in Vietnam.  He was a member of Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and  fishing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and Charles; and sister, Eileen Montgomery.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly Taylor Thompson; sons Kevin and Randy Thompson; daughter, Joyce Noel and her husband, Barry; four grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild, and a sister Barbara Trout, husband Richard.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
