Donald R. Zeiler Sr.


Donald R. Zeiler Sr., age 82 of North Huntingdon died April 16, 2017,  at Forbes Regional Hospital. He was born August 28, 1934 in Castle Shannon, a son of the late Elmer and Anna Hess Zeiler. Donald was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, VFW Post 5012, charter and board member of Penns Woods Civic Association,  an avid golfer,  volunteered at numerous local bingos, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the  Korean War era. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a telecommunications technician by Western Union. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Ralph and one grandchild, Rachel Nicole. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carol Murawski Zeiler, one son Donald Jr. (Amy), three daughters, Monica Estep (Jeff), Bonnie Lightner, Connie McNally (Thomas), two  brothers, Elmer "Jr", and Edward, one sister Lillian Messes, 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Cassandra, Joshua, Nicholas, Ashley, Jesse, Josiah, Katherine, 11 great grandchildren, Richard, Taylor, Jacob, Daisy, Jaiden, Lillian, Zoe, Aubrie, Leon, Chase, and Serenity. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Tues 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wed at 10 a.m. with Father Len Stoviak officiating. Interment Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
